You don’t have to be Irish to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! On March 17th, people around the world are honoring St. Patrick with some quirky traditions! In Hot Springs, Arkansas they hold a leprechaun-sized parade on the world’s smallest street and in the windy city the Chicago River is dyed green!  Check out these resources for St. Patrick’s Day events in Maine!

But don’t wait until the 17th to begin your celebration! Try some of these easy crafts and activities you and your child can do at home to celebrate the luck of the Irish!

  • Create a necklace by stringing together clovers cut out of green construction paper.
  • Create a trail of pennies or chocolate coins leading from their bedroom to a note from a leprechaun.
  • Put a little green food coloring in the cartoon of milk and watch the surprised look on your child’s face when you pour a glass! Tell him that a leprechaun must have turned the milk green when he took a sip!
  • When you child is sleeping, place a four leaf clover sticker on his check and tell him a leprechaun kissed him that night.
  • Place white carnation flowers in a vase with water and a few drops of green food coloring. Over the next few days, watch as the flowers turn green!

Tell us: How do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with your kids?
